Applekirk est un village rural situé dans les Marches, la région centrale d'un monde où le temps ne s'écoule pas à la même vitesse selon que l'on se trouve à l'est - où la magie est très puissante et où vivent les dieux - ou à l'ouest - où la magie est totalement absente.
