Selling a beautiful ORIGINAL AND GENUINE example of British 1897 pattern Infantry officer sword from the George V reign period.
The sword come in amazing, virtually parade-grade conditions, and in its beautiful original leather scabbard (which is in pretty amazing conditions, too).
The guard is elegantly carved, and embellished with the royal cipher of King George V, which helps us dating this specimen to around WW1 period.
The fishskin grip is in great conditions ad retains its original wiring
Sword is just under 1M in total length. the 82 cm blade is straight, stiff and has no real cutting edge, but a very sharp point.
As you can appreciate from the attached pictures, blade is also beautifully etched, showing again the king monogram, coat of arms and other fine details, together with details of the swords manufacturers (Hutton & Sons Sheffield for Thresher & Glenny London).
A really beautiful and elegant item, and hard to find one in such amazing conditions
